Claimant, an 18 year old male, was working construction, servicing a crane. He lost his balance, instinctively placing his hand on the boom to steady himself. His left hand was almost completely severed by the retracting boom. After prompt, competent medical attention, he now has remarkably good use of his hand, despite the severe injury. Claimant received temporary total disability benefits. All of his extensive medical treatment was paid for by his employer, and he received permanent disability to his hand of almost 35%, after involvement by the Armstrong Law Firm.
